Salatel Scores Early but U of R Rallies for Victory

Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) scored 10:58 into the contest to give Alfred State an early lead at the University of Rochester but the Yellowjackets answered back with a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of the 1st half en route to a 2-1 victory at Fauver Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Salatel netted her third goal of the season when her header from 12 yards out found the back of the net. The Pioneers led until the 32nd minute when Pamela Chan scored on a tip-in after a scramble in front of the net. Emily Henry scored the game winner with just 1:39 left in the half when she fired a shot into the top left corner.
Neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the way. The Yellowjackets held a 19 to 8 shot advantage in the contest as they improve to 4-0-1 on the year.
Allison Danielak (Brockport) made fives saves in net for the Pioneers. Samantha Hlavac made two saves in the 1st half while Emma Campbell manned the net in the 2nd half and did not have to make a save.
The Lady Pioneers (2-1) return to action on Wednesday when they host SUNY Poly at Pioneer Stadium at 6 p.m.
