Pioneers Roll into ACAA Finals

The Alfred State women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Valley Forge in the semifinals of the ACAA Championships. The Pioneers scored five times in the 2nd half to seal their spot in the championship match tomorrow.

The blue & gold got on the board in the 34th minute when Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) scored after getting a pass from Melissa Mineti (Livonia). The Pioneers held a 23-0 shot advantage in the opening half but only held the 1-0 lead.

16:45 into the 2nd half, Alfred State started to build on their lead. Brooke Geibel (Arkport) scored after getting a pass from Allison VanScoter (Arkport) Dannielle O'Buckley (Jamaica/Ansbach) scored in the 65th and 67th minute to build on the lead. Sarah Finzer (Walworth/Wayne) netted a goal in the 70th minute after getting a pass from Chloe Cox (Tucson, AZ) and then she found the back of the net for the second time in the 85th minute.

The Pioneers finished the game with a 48 to 0 shot advantage. The team also earned 24 corner kick opportunities.

Allison Danielak (Brockport) played the first 70:37 to earn the victory while Kathryn Parsons (York) played the final 19:23. Taniyah Faison made 21 saves for the Patriots.

The Pioneers will take on SUNY Canton in tomorrow's ACAA Championship game. The Kangaroos defeated Mills (CA) 2-0 in the other semifinals. The Pioneers and Roos met earlier in the season with the blue & gold earning a 1-0 victory.
