Pioneers Continue to Roll

The Alfred State women's soccer team continued their roll as they downed Elmira 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers have won five straight and are unbeaten in the last seven matches.

The combination of Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) and Melissa Mineti (Livonia) combined on both of the goals in the 1st half. 26:05 into the game, Salatel tapped in a shot right in front of the net after getting a pass from Mineti. With just under three minutes left in the half, Salatel scored her team high 10th goal on a rebound of a Mineti shot.

Alfred State (8-2-2) held a 23 to 9 shot advantage in the game. Madison Papaj (Holley) recorded her fifth shutout of the season with two saves. Cassidy Buchman made nine saves for Elmira.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they host Christendom (VA) at Noon. Prior to the game the program will honor the senior class.
