Pioneers Remain Steady in 2nd Place

The Alfred State women's swimming and diving team remained within striking distance on day three of the AMCC Championships. The Pioneers have scored 413 points during the first three days are only 52 points behind Penn State Behrend. 

The 200 medley relay team of Jessie LaRue (Livonia), Hannah Snayczuk (Pioneer), Sarah Stevens (Wellsville), and Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) started off the evening with a 3rd place finish (1:59.85)

Sarah Stevens led a sweep of the 1m diving competition. She won with 351.75 to claim the crown. Her sister Rebecca Stevens was 2nd (329.05), and Leaha Langerman (Wayland Cohocton) was 3rd (325.75). Sarah Stevens was also 3rd in the 400 IM (5:20.17).

Lewis took off nearly five seconds off her time in the preliminaries and was 2nd in the 200 free (2:01.87) while LaRue was 3rd in the 100 back (1:02.56)

Other top performances included:

• Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville) was 4th in the 400 IM (5:35.21) and Elizabeth Jurs (Elba) was 5th (5:37.20)
• Snayczuk was 4th in the 100 breast (1:18.15) while Grace Feely (Middletown) was 7th (1:20.77)
• Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury) was 5th in the 100 fly (1:05.68) and 6th in the 100 back (1:06.82)
• Elizabeth Drake (Lansing) was 5th in the 200 free (2:07.51) while Alina Kisluk (Hamburg) was 6th (2:09.26)

The hosts Penn State Behrend lead with 465 points followed by Alfred State. Franciscan is 3rd (233), Penn State Altoona 4th (122), Pitt Bradford 5th (17), and SUNY Delhi 6th (9).

Day four action begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries followed by diving at 1 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
