Strong Showing for Multi Athletes

A group of twenty Pioneers competed at the Edinboro Mike Kowal Multi event over the weekend. The event featured athletes from Alfred State, Edinboro, and Slippery Rock.

Emily Brigman (Lancaster) led the women's team contingent with a 3rd place finish in the pentathlon. She finished the five events with 2,449 points to earn 3rd place out of 15 competitors. She won the 60 m hurdles and set a new school record with a time of 9.93 to score 725 points. She also scored 512 points in high jump with a leap of 1.40 m.

Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) was 5th and found her way into the all-time top ten list with 2,123 points. She scored the highest in the 60 m hurdles with a time of 10.43.

Julia Yanarella (Wappinger Falls) was 8th (1,796), Katerine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) was 9th (1,688), and Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 10th (1,644).

In the first day of the heptathlon on the men's side, Cameron Howard (Brockport) is the top Pioneer. He sits in 5th place with 2,175 points. He scored the 779 points in the 60 m (7.30) to highlight his day. Tim Berry (Midlakes) is 6th (2,083), Derek Stein is 7th (2,067), and Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) is 8th (2,011). The second day of the heptathlon featuring the 60 hurdles, the pole vault, and the 1,000 starts on Sunday at 10 a.m.
