Lady Spikers Compete at Houghton Tournament

The Alfred State volleyball team wrapped up play at the Houghton College Tournament on Saturday falling 3-0 to SUNY Canton and dropping a 3-2 decision to Hilbert.  The Lady Pioneers are now 17-12 on the year.

The Kangaroos earned a 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 victory in the Pioneers first match of the day.  Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) led the way with eight digs and seven kills while Lera Braun (Waterloo) passed out 17 assists.  Jessica Ramsey (Tioga) led the way with 12 digs and Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) added six kills.

In their final match of the tournament, Alfred State led 2-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-20)  but Hilbert rallied to win the final two games (24-26 & 8-15).  Mallory Eberhardt (Lyons) had 12 digs and five aces while Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) chipped in 10 kills and six blocks.  Pfleghardt registered 12 kills and seven digs, Braun had 34 assists and 12 digs, Hanrahan registered 10 kills and three blocks, and Ramsey led the team with 19 digs.

The Lady Pioneers wrap up their regular season on November 6 when they return to Houghton to battle the Highlanders.
