Godfrey Records 12 Kills in Season Opener

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) recorded 12 kills and hit .303 on the day as the Alfred State volleyball team opened up the 2017 season at Morrisville. The Mustangs took the match 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Godfrey had 12 kills on 33 attempts and only two errors. She also chipped in four kills. Samantha Tumolo (Manorville/Eastport South Manor) passed out nine assists and Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) passed out eight assists and had seven digs. Madison Webster (Corning) collected a team high nine digs. The Pioneers hit only .049 in the contest and committed six service errors.

Megyan Merrill led the Mustangs with 12 kills, Kim Dunkleman passed out 19 assists, and Samantha Wolf led the way with 12 digs. Morrisville hit .239 on the day and collected 35 digs.

The Pioneers continue play at Morrisville tomorrow when they take on Keystone at 1 p.m. and MIT at 5 p.m.
