Spikers Split at Elmira Quad

The Alfred State volleyball team split a pair of matches on day two of the Elmira College Quad. The Pioneers fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-14) to the hosts and then rebounded for a 3-1 (25-6, 25-17, 20-25, 25-12) victory over SUNY Delhi.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) recorded 14 kills to lead the way in the win over Delhi. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) finished with seven kills as the team collected 39 total kills and hit .266 in the contest. Sarah Raichlin (Chenango Valley) passed out 19 assists and Samantha Tumolo (Manorville/Eastport South Manor) had 14 assists. Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with nine digs.

Regan Hubner led the Broncos with six kills, Emma King had 14 assists, and Kyoko Shimizu had 15 digs.

In their opening match, Elmira collected 14 service aces and hit .338 in the contest. Perkins led the blue & gold with nine kills while Morgan Hungerford (Lyndonville) added eight. Tumolo passed out 12 assists and Webster led the team with six digs.

Natalie Schieder led the Eagles (3-1) with 11 kills and 11 digs while Taylor Kaznowski passed out 30 assists.

The Pioneers are back on the court on Thursday when they travel to Medaille for a 7 p.m. contest.
