Spikers Split a Pair at Cobleskill

The Alfred State volleyball team split a pair of matches at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon. They fell 3-1 to Wells but rebounded to defeated Cobleskill 3-1.

Wells took the first two sets 25-12 and 25-18 but the Pioneers took set three, 25-14. The Express took the match by winning set four, 25-20.

Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) and Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) had solid offensive performances for the Pioneers. Perkins recorded 13 kills while Godfrey collected 12. Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) passed out 18 assists and Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 14 digs.

Olyvia Brazier led the Express with 12 kills, Eliza Schwab passed out 39 assists, and Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo collected 14 digs.

Godfrey was on fire in the nightcap vs. Cobleskill. The Pioneers took the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-14 before the Tigers took set three 25-23. The blue & gold won the match with a 25-12 victory in set four.

Godfrey collected 24 kills and finished with a .417 hitting percentage in the contest. Raichlin passed out 33 assists while Webster collected six digs. Perkins collected seven kills while Morgan Hungerford (Lyndonville) had six. The Pioneers had 45 kills in the contest.

Rachel Burke led the Tigers with seven, Mackenzie Holbert passed out 17 assists, and Emily Potter had 10 digs.

The Pioneers hit the road again next Saturday when they play in a tri-match at Cazenovia. They take on the hosts at 10 a.m. and Penn College at Noon.
