Webster and Perkins Collect 19 Kills at Houghton Tri-Match

Madison Webster (Corning) and Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) both collected 19 kills as Alfred State competed at the Houghton tri-match on Saturday. The Pioneers fell 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 to LaRoche and was tripped up 25-17, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20 by the hosts.

Webster led the Pioneers with 10 kills and 21 digs in the match vs. LaRoche. Perkins added nine kills and three service aces. Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) passed out 28 assists and Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) finished with 14 digs. The Pioneers hit only .082 in the match and were slowed down by 10 service errors.

Reilee Bradford led a balance LaRoche attack with seven kills, Bailey McDonald passed out 13 assists, and Hannah Scott led the way with 15 digs.

In their four-set match vs. Houghton, Perkins led the team with 10 kills while adding seven digs and three service aces. Webster finished with nine kills, 11 digs, and five service aces. Raichlin passed out 31 assists and had 11 digs, Stauffeneker had 15 digs, and both Isabella Slocum (Hornell) and Alyssa Martin (Portville) were credited with six kills.

Amber Edwards led the Highlanders with 16 kills and 11 digs while Ally Bittinger recorded 11 kills and 10 digs. Haley Unverdorben passed out 31 assists and Morgan Potempa led the way with 17 digs.

The blue & gold are back in action next Friday when they compete at the Lycoming Tournament. They take on Penn State Altoona on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
