Bradford Rallies for Four Set Victory

Alfred State won the opening set 25-21 but Pitt Bradford rallied by winning the next three sets, 16-25, 16-25, 17-25 to take the AMCC victory.

In the 1st set, Alfred State trailed 16-14 before going on a big run. They scored 11 out of the next 16 points, including the last six to win the set. In each of the next three sets, the Panthers would use a run to put distance between them and the Pioneers. In set two, a 6-0 run when the game was tied at 5-5 opened the door for UPB. In set three, the Panthers scored 10 of the first 13 points and never looked back. In the final set, a 9-2 run put some distance between the two teams. The Pioneers tried to mount a comeback scoring six straight points late in the game but were unable to fully get back in the set.

Isabella Slocum (Hornell/Cal-Mum) led the Pioneers (6-7, 0-2 AMCC) with 11 kills. Alyssa Fox (Letchworth) finished with 10 kills and 13 digs, Jordan McCooey (Horseheads) passed out 29 assists, and Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) chipped in 10 digs.

Emily Cleveland led Pitt Bradford (10-9, 2-1 AMCC) with 16 kills and three service aces. Tabitha Walker passed out 26 assists while Laura Hildebrand led all players with 27 digs.

The Pioneers head to Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday when they take on La Roche. Opening serve is at 1 p.m.
