Pioneers Close Out Home Schedule with Pink Pride Game

The Alfred State volleyball team fell in three sets to Penn State Behrend (25-14, 25-14, 25-14) as they closed out the home portion of the schedule. The game was also the team's annual Pink Pride game as they raised funds for Allegany County Cancer Services.

The Lions (15-10, 9-0 AMCC) used a solid attack and effective serving to take the contest. PSB hit .289 (35 kills, nine errors, and 90 attempts) and collected eight service aces. Keely Hering led the way with 10 kills and 10 digs while Dani Kosslow passed out 31 assists and registered four aces. Madison Clapper finished with a team high 16 digs.

Alyssa Fox (Letchworth) led the Pioneers with eight kills, Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) finished with 13 digs, and Jordan McCooey (Horseheads) passed out 22 assists. The Pioneers were held to just .031 hitting and had 10 service errors.

The game featured basket raffles and t-shirt sales. The proceeds of these two fundraisers will be donated to ACCS. This is the 14th season that the Alfred State volleyball team has played a breast cancer awareness game.

The Pioneers head to Houghton on Friday for a 6 p.m. match-up with the Highlanders.
