Alfred State Extends Streak to 12 Wins

 

Alfred State won both matches today, beating both La Roche and Medaille going 2-0. A great end to athletic events on Alfred State's homecoming, saw the dominant volleyball team continue their impressive streak.

Alfred State 3-0 over La Roche: 25-16, 25-15,25-16

The Pioneers came out strong in the first set of the day against LaRoche winning 25-16. The Pioneers breezed through La Roche in the first set 25-16. The Pioneers took the second set 25-15. Alfred State dominated the match, winning the last set 25-16.

Match Leaders

Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR/Eastridge) finished with 27 assists, four digs, and two kills. Karleigh Haines (Jamestown, NY/ Jamestown) was the kill leader with 13, along with 9 digs. Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD / High Point) had 9 kills of her own. Faith McCombs (Amityville, NY/ Copiague) finished with 6. Adeline Milligan (Pavilion, NY / Pavilion) had 11 digs and Becca Brown had 9.

Alfred State 3-0 over Medaille: 25-17, 25-16, 26,24

Before the match against Medaille, the Alfred State team honored three senior student athletes.

Keturah Gregory, Karleigh Haines, and Faith McCombs. All three, have had a massive impact on the Pioneer program. 

The Pioneers kept momentum rolling against Medaille. Alfred State took the first set 25-17. Continued with a win in the second set 25-16. In the third set, the score was pushed to 26-24, the Pioneers still came out on top.

A 6-0 day for Alfred State, puts them in an even better position, heading into the end of the regular season.

Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR/Eastridge) finished with 33 assists, nine digs, and four kills. Karleigh Haines (Jamestown, NY/ Jamestown) was the kill leader of the game with 12. Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD / High Point) was right behind her with 11 kills. Adeline Milligan (Pavilion, NY / Pavilion) had 11 digs.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday, October 26, when they will have their annual Pink Pride Fundraiser in Orvis Gymnasium.
