Pioneers Clinch First Place on Pink Pride Night

The Alfred State Women's Volleyball team won handily today against Hilbert 3-0. The Pioneers are now on the longest win streak in the program's NCAA history, with thirteen in a row.

The Pioneers won the sets 25-8, 25-13, 25-9. In the final home match of the regular season the Pioneers looked dominant, clinching first place in the AMCC with the win. With the win they now move to 6-0 in conference play and will now have home-court advantage throughout the AMCC postseason conference tournament. This will be the first time Alfred State Volleyball has hosted the AMCC postseason tournament. Karleigh Haines (Jamestown, NY) led the Pioneer attack with ten kills. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR) notched seven service aces tying her season high from an October 1 match against Medaille. Ferrer Santiago notched 26 assists in the match as well. 

The Volleyball program held their annual Pink Pride event, raising money and awareness for Cancer in Allegany County. Allegany County Cancer Services is the recipient of 100% of the proceeds each year,. ACCS is a non-profit organization supporting cancer patients throughout the county, it was founded in 2006 by a breast cancer survivor Lori Ballengee. She created the group to help Allegany County community members afford their medical bills and cancer treatments.

The Pioneers are back in action at Penn.- St. Altoona on Saturday, October 29 as they finish off the regular season.
