Caltagirone Leads Pioneers to 3rd Place at AMCC's

Caitlin Caltagirone (Holland) led the Alfred State's women's cross country team as the Pioneers finished 3rd out of eight teams at the AMCC Championships. The Championships were held in Erie, PA at Penn State Behrend.

Caltagirone finished 6th on the 6k course to lead the Pioneers. She crossed the finish line in 24:16.3 (6:30/mile). Four Pioneers finished in a pack to round out the top finishers for the blue & gold. Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) was 20th (26:59.7), Katie Watkins (Addison) was 21st (27:04.7), Kate Frascella (Franklinville) was 22nd (27:39.7), and Molly Heaphy (Long Island Lutheran) was 23rd (27:45.4).

Savanna Carr from Penn State Behrend won the individual title as the Lions won the team title with a score of 23. Franciscan was 2nd with 37 points followed by Alfred State's 80. D'Youville was 4th (122), Medaille 5th (156), Mt. Aloysius 6th (173), and La Roche (182). Hilbert also competed but did not have a full team.

The Pioneers were competing in their first ever AMCC Championship.

A contingent of Pioneers will prepare for the NCAA Mideast Regionals in two weeks.
