Cross Country Finishes 5th at Twilight Invitational

The Alfred State cross country team opened up the 2017 campaign with a 5th place finish in both the men's and women's races at the Houghton College Twilight Invitational. 

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was the top finisher on the men's side. He crossed the finish line of the 5k course in 21st (16:27.9). Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) was 31st (16:51.6),  Ryan Lohr (West Seneca) was 51st (17:57.8), Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 52nd (18:01.3), and Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) was 53rd (18:02.5).

The College of New Jersey won the men's competition with a score of 25 followed by RIT, Roberts Wesleyan, and Houghton. The Pioneers scored a 145 on the day.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was the top finisher on the women's side for the Pioneers. She finished the 4k course in 16th (15:56.1). Olivia Leonti (Port Byron) was 35th (16:43.6), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 53rd (18:36.8), Cassidy McCourt (Buffalo/Emerson) was 56th (18:46.5), and Emily Brigman (Lancaster) was 61st (19:02.7).

TCNJ took the women's title with a score of 20 followed by RIT, Roberts Wesleyan, and Houghton. The Pioneers scored a 148.

The blue & gold are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Finger Lakes CC for the Bruce Bridgeman Classic.
