Men 5th, Women 7th at Oswego

The Alfred State men's cross country team finished 5th while the women finished 7th at the Oswego Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) led the men's team in the 8k race. He finished 9th in a time of 27:12.8. Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) was 36th in 28:31.2, Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 51st in 29:34.6, Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) was 60th in 30:21.2, and Ryan Lohr (West Seneca) rounded out the top five with a 61st place finish in 30:21.5.

Brockport took the men's title with a score of 35 followed by Oswego (45), Geneseo (78), and the Binghamton Running Club (134). The Pioneers scored 149 finishing ahead of Hobart (165), Onondaga CC (190), Wells (217), Finger Lakes CC (265), Elmira (273), and Broome CC (334). A total of 126 runners competed in race. 

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the women's team with a 21st place finish on the 5k course. She crossed the finish line in 21:16.8. Olivia Leonti (Port Byron) was 41st in 22:04.2, Katherine Frascella was 77th in 24:31.7, and Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 81st (24:55.2). Emily Brigman (Lancaster) rounded out the top five with a 85th finish (25:28.8).

The Pioneer women finished the event with a score of 184. Geneseo won the event with 25 followed by Brockport (65), St Rose (92), Oswego (112), William Smith (130), and the Binghamton Running Club (138). Elmira was 8th with 215 and Wells was 9th with 263. 110 runners completed the 5k course.

The blue & gold are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Roberts Wesleyan.
