Cross Country: 3rd at Houghton Invitational

The men's and women's cross country teams both raced to 3rd place finishes at the Highlander Invitational at Houghton College. 

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) had a strong day finishing 2nd overall in the 5k competition that featured 57 finishers. She crossed the finish line in 19:22.2. Emily Brigman (Lancaster) was 16th (21:28.9) and Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 23rd (21:51.3). The Lady Pioneers scored 88 points in the meet and finished behind only Penn State Behrend (30) and Houghton (47). Roberts Wesleyan (107), Elmira (129), and Keuka (139) also competed and finished behind the blue & gold.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) led the men in the 8k race with a 5th place overall finish. He crossed the finish line in 26:57.0. Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 9th (27:55.2) and Kyle Glaub (West Seneca East) was 18th (28:40.5). Penn State Behrend won the men's competition with 27 followed by Houghton (61) and Alfred State (68). Roberts Wesleyan (70), Finger Lakes CC (152), Elmira (184), and Keuka (197) rounded out the team scoring.

Football: 0-6

Dean scored 33 unanswered points as they defeated Alfred State 47-19. 

Hezekiah Williamson (Albany/Albany) scored from 10-yards out in the 1st,  Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) caught a 10-yard TD pass from Dashon Turner (West Genesee) in the 4th quarter and Turner connected with Ricky Hagins (Rochester/Eastridge) on a 15-yard scoring play late in the game.

Turner was 20 for 33 for 161 yards, Hagins had 35 yards receiving on three catches, and Greggs caught five passes for 35 yards. Greggs also had 126 kick return yards.

Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) led the defense with 10 tackles and a sack. Brandon Davis (Lansing) added eight tackles.

Men's Soccer: 4-7

The Pioneers fell in both of their games this week, 4-1 to St. John Fisher and 3-1 to SUNY Delhi. 

Tyler Landries (Genesee Valley) scored on a penalty kick vs. St. John Fisher while Zachary Curran (Williamson) scored vs. Delhi. Nick Donner (Lancaster) and Brandon Holley (Livonia) picked up assists.

Women's Soccer: 6-5, ranked #12 in USCAA poll 

The women's soccer team dominated from the start as they defeated Villa Maria 12-0 on Saturday afternoon in their only game of the week. Nine different Lady Pioneers scored and eleven players recorded points in the victory.

The Lady Pioneers scored six goals in each half as they outshot the Vikings 45 to 0 in the contest. Brooke Geibel (Arkport) finished with two goals and an assist, Chloe Cox (Tuscon, AZ) had a goal and two assists, and Melissa Minetti (Livonia) scored twice.

Volleyball: 14-2, ranked T#3 in USCAA Poll

The Lady Spikers split four games at the Lycoming Tournament over the weekend. They fell 3-2 to Gettysburg and 3-0 to University of Rochester on Friday but bounced back with a 3-0 win over Wilkes and a 3-1 victory over Lycoming.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) led the team with 53 kills and added 43 digs. Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) and Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) each finished with 34 kills. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) passed out 121 assists, Madison Webster (Corning) led the way with 86 digs, and Shaina Griffin (Portville) accounted for nine of the teams 24 service aces.

The Lady Pioneers hit .202 on the week, recorded 269 digs, and collected 20 blocks.
