Men's Basketball: 9-11

The men's basketball team was 2-1 this week and have won 9 of their last 14 games. They defeated Pitt Bradford 90-66, lost a last second contest 79-76 vs. SUNY Canton, and defeated SUNY Delhi 76-67.

Sayquan Chambers (Queens/Richmond Hill) led the team with 53 points (17.7) and 29 rebounds (9.7). Marquis Edwards (Queens/In Tech Academy) and Dante Jordan (New York/Law & Public Service) both finished the week with 39 points. Tyrone Davis (Brooklyn/Benjamin Banneker) had a big week with 25 points and 30 assists. He passed out 17 assists in the win over Bradford.

The Pioneers shot 47.5% from the field, hit 35% from three, and forced 51 turnovers.

Women's Basketball: 10-7

The Lady Pioneers were 1-2 this week. They fell 79-56 to Pitt Bradford, defeated SUNY Canton 56-38, and fell 90-80 in overtime to SUNY Delhi.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) had a monster week with 66 points (22), 36 rebounds (12), and 14 blocks. She had a career high 35 points in the game vs. Delhi. Kimberley Levee (Dansville) connected on 7 three-pointers and had 29 points while Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) chipped in 27 points and 12 assists.

The Lady Pioneers shot 36.2% from the field, hit 32.6% from three.

Swimming: Men 2-2, Women: 4-1

The swimming and diving team wrapped up the regular season with a strong performance at the Geneseo Invitational. The women's team finished 3rd with 215 points while the men were 4th with 161 points.

Alley Sell (Hanover, PA) continued her impressive sophomore season with three strong performances. She won the 100 breast (1:10.76), finished 4th in the 200 IM (2:19.06), and finished 5th in the 200 breast (2:42.26).

Ethan Dale (Lock Haven) was 6th in the 1,000 (11:19.89), Tim Olin (Perry) was 7th in the 50 free (23.47) and 8th in the 100 back (2:12.97), and Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) was 7th in the 100 back (1:00.09).

Elizabeth Drake (Lansing) was 6th in the 1,000 (12:51.82) and Kaileigh Lehman (Lowville/Beaver River) was 6th in the 200 breast (2:50.93).

In the diving competition, Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville) was 4th in the 1m (183) and 5th in the 3m (178.75) while Nick Beach (Canandaigua) was 5th in both the 1m (209.70) and 3m (202.70).

Indoor Track & Field

The indoor track team traveled to Geneva, OH to compete in the SPIRE Midwest Open. The meet featured NCAA DI, DII, and DIII teams.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was 3rd in the 3,000 open competition and is now 5th all-time with a run of 10:59.02.

Anders Prethus (Lansing) finished 11th in the shot put with a toss of 14.02 m. He is now tied for 8th in the all-time list.

Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) finished 6th in the pentathlon with 1,773 points. Her most points came in the 60 m hurdles where her time of 11.16 earned her 511 points. In the men's heptathlon, Andrew Rubenstahl finished 3rd in the heptathlon with 3,311 points. He earned 562 points in the pole vault (3.80 m). Alex Brown (Wellsville) was 4th with 3,301 points.

Both the men's and women's 4x800 relay teams finished 5th.  Kelly Healy (Maple Hill), Emily Brigman (Hamburg), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville), and Elizabeth Butlak (Angola) finished 11:22.63 while Caleb Boyce-Wright (Cheektowaga), Matthew Conner (Port Byron), Trevor Stiles (Hornell), and Michael Girard (Phoenix) finished in 8:30.17.

Wrestling: 7-6, 6th at NCWA Dual Championship

The wrestling team had an impressive week finishing 4-3 in dual matches including a 6th place finish at the NCWA National Dual Championships. The Pioneers defeated Penn College 35-13 in a home match before splitting six matches at the weekend duals (L 25-19 to Liberty, W 24-15 over NCWA - 2, W 40-15 over Penn State Wrestling Club, L to eventual champion Emmanuel 40-15, W 28-27 over Middle Tennessee, and L 27-26 to Central Florida.

The trio of George Van Valen (Ithaca), Tristan Almeter (Iroquois), and Konnor Kremer (Horseheads) led the way. Van Valen was 7-0 on the week with three pins, a tech fall, and two major decisions. Almeter was also 7-0 and allowed just three points in his matches. Kremer was 5-1 on the week with a tech fall and a major decision.

The Pioneers entered the NCWA Tournament as the #9 and made the largest jump during the tournament moving up three spots.
