Basketball Teams Rise Up in USCAA Poll

Both the Alfred State men's and women's basketball teams climbed up the USCAA Poll in the Week 8 edition. The men's team made their debut in the poll at the #15 spot while the women's team rose up to the #8 ranking.

The Pioneer men have rebounded from a slow start to the 2016-17 season have won nine of their last 15 games (four of the losses have by three points or less). The team have received votes in previous polls but received 73 votes to debut in the top 15. 

Rochester (MI) College is #1 followed by WV Tech, Washington Adventist, Maine Fort Kent, and Concordia-Alabama.

The women's team moved up two spots in this edition of the poll. They received 214 points and sit in the 8th spot. The Pioneers are 11-7 on the season and have seven of their nine games during the 2017 portion of their season.

Concordia-Alabama holds the top spot followed by Berea (KY), WV Tech, Rochester, and Florida. Oakwood (AL) and Silver Lake (WI) sit just ahead of Alfred State.

The 2017 USCAA basketball tournament will be February 28 - March 4 at Penn State Fayette (Uniontown, PA).
