Baseball: 2-18

The Pioneers traveled to Boston, MA and played four close contests with Fisher College. The blue & gold fell 3-2 & 9-8 on Saturday and split a doubleheader on Sunday falling 8-6 and winning 7-1.

Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) provided the biggest highlight of the weekend when he tossed a complete game no-hitter in the 4th game of the series. He allowed just three walks and an unearned run while striking out four to earn his first victory wearing the blue & gold.

Thomas Shofi (Carmel) was 5 for 16 with a homer and six RBI to lead the offense. The Pioneers did draw 23 talks on the weekend.

Brady Sass (Cal Mum) and Garrett Mack (Avon) both pitched well this weekend. Sass tossed 6.1 and allowed just five hits and two earned runs while Mack pitched 5.2 and also allowed five hits and two earned runs.

Lacrosse: 1-7

The blue & gold dropped a pair of home matches this week. They fell 15-11 to Cazenovia and 12-6 to Hilbert.

Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) led the Pioneers with nine points this week (five goals and four assists) while Joe Johnson (Churchville) found the back of the net a team high six times. Aaron Buck (Churchville) chipped in four goals and four assists, Tanner Morrow (Grand Island) won 28 face-offs and led the team with 16 ground balls, and Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 19 saves in net.

Softball: 0-8

The Pioneers four-game series vs. Lyndon State was cancelled due to poor weather and field conditions. The blue & gold will look to start the northern part of their season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders vs. Hilbert and St. Lawrence.

Outdoor Track & Field: 

Anders Prethus (Lansing) had a big day as the Alfred State track & field team opened up the season at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University. 

Prethus qualified for the ECAC Championships in both the shot put and the discus. He was 3rd in the shot put with a toss of 14.93 and 7th in the discus (42.63). In the hammer throw, Prethus finished 12th with a toss of 37.82.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) had solid performances in the 3,000 steeplechase. Hanss was 5th in 10:04.91 while Hulbert was 9th in 10:29.03.

Zach Curran (Williamson) was 7th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.10 m, Jeremy Campbell was 13th in the high jump (1.77 m), and Nku Henry (Bronx/Cardinal Hayes) was 14th in the 100 (11.69)

Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) led the way with a 28th place finish in the 800 (2:38.79) and a 44th place finish in the 1500 (5:41.65).
