Cox and Van Valen Named Garcia's Top Cut Athletes of the Week
Alfred State soccer player Chloe Cox (Tucson, AZ) and wrestler George Van Valen (Ithaca) have been named the Garica's Barbershop Top Cut Athletes of the Week.
Cox was named the ACAA Tournament as Alfred State defeated Valley Forge 6-0 and SUNY Canton to claim the conference crown. Cox was credited with an assist in the game vs. Valley Forge and helped lead a defense that allowed just six shots all weekend.
Van Valen led the wrestling team with a perfect 4-0 day en route to winning the title in the 184 lb. weight class at the Brockport Open. He pinned Armando Arce (Jamestown CC), earned a tech fall (18-0) over Thaddus Jeffries (Brockport), earned a major decision (11-2) over Jacquan Mcpherson (Lackawanna), and finished the day with a tech fall (18-1) over Travis Race (Brockport).
