Gonzalez and Curran Earn Garcia's Top Cut Athlete of the Week Honors
Alfred State track and field athletes Sophie Gonzalez and Zach Curran (Williamson) have been named the Garcia's Barbershop Top Cut Athletes of the Week.
Gonzalez was solid in both the 60 and 200 to lead the women's team at the Houghton December Invitational. In the 60 she won her preliminary heat in a time of 8.14 which was 3rd fastest in the prelims and 2nd fastest in school history. In the finals she finished 7th with a time of 8.22. In the 200, she finished 3rd overall with a time of 27.22.
Curran was impressive in his first meet. He won the pole vault competition with a leap of 4.60 m (15'1"). His leap is the 4th best in NCAA DIII thus far during the 2017-18 season and ties him for 3rd all-time in school history.
