Team Updates

Men's Basketball: 9-5

The Pioneers were 1-2 this past week as they continued their long road trip to open up the 2018 portion of their season. The Pioneers started the week with a 69-61 victory over SUNY ESF but fell 74-69 at D'Youville and 70-61 at Albany Pharmacy.

Alexshay Pearce (Rochester/Charlotte - Tech Management) led the team with 42 points this week while Dante Jordan (New York/Law & Public Service - Business Management) averaged 12 points and 13 rebounds this week. Marcus Rhett (Middletown - Sport Management) chipped in 28 points and 20 boards.

The Pioneers struggled from the field this week shooting just 37.6% from the field and 14.8% from three. They did continue their dominance on the boards with a 149 to 101 advantage.

Women's Basketball: 4-8

The blue & gold used a fast start to defeat Maine Fort Kent. The Pioneers went on a 18 to 4 run early in the 1st quarter as they raced to a 78-60 victory.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond - Diagnostic Medical Sonography), Kelsey Shaulis (South Seneca - Diagnostic Medical Sonography), Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville - Sport Management), and Janae Gibson (Brons/Pelham Prep - Sport Management) all had big games for the blue & gold. Bialecki had 25 points, 17 boards (13 defensive), and nine blocks. Shaulis had a career high 16 points, Anderson finished with 12 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds, and Gibson chipped in 12 points and 14 boards. Kelly Kane (Wellsville - Business Administration) came off the bench and added seven points.

The Pioneers (4-8) shot 60% from the field (12 for 20) in the 1st quarter to get off to the fast start. They finished the game shooting 43.1% from the field (31 for 72) and 54.2% from the foul line (13 for 24). They also held a 62 to 40 advantage on the boards.

Wrestling: 2-3, 12th at Waynesburg Invitational

The Pioneers scheduled match vs. Penn State DuBois was cancelled. The team will be in action next on Wednesday when they travel to Penn State Behrend. They will also travel to Penn College on Saturday to battle vs. the Wildcats and Bergen CC.

Swimming & Diving: Women 3-1, Men 1-3

After travel issues to and from their training trip to Florida, the Pioneers were unable to compete this past week and will make their 2018 debut on Saturday when they host Pitt Bradford in a AMCC meet. On Saturday, they will host the Pioneer Invitational with Genesee CC, Roberts Wesleyan, and SUNY Delhi coming to the Orvis Pool to compete.

Indoor Track & Field: 

The indoor track & field team has returned to campus and will be in action on Friday, January 19th when they compete at the Houghton Invitational.
