Team Updates

Baseball: 0-6

The Pioneers opened up their southern spring break trip at Salisbury. The team couldn't get the offense going and fell 2-0 and 9-1.

In the opener, Matt Isham (Maine Endwell) and Angel Victorino (Harvest Collegiate) combined to keep the Sea Gulls off the board for the first six innings while Wes Whitlock threw a complete game two-hitter. Salisbury broke the scoreless tie with two outs in the 7th when Justin Meekins hit a RBI triple and scored on a pinch hit single on Jack Decker. Isham allowed four hits in four innings of work while Victorino allowed one hit in 1.2 innings. Whitlock allowed just two hits and walked two while striking out 12. Dan Woodward (Honeoye) and Brody Burdett (Scottsdale, AZ) collected singles for the blue & gold.

In the nightcap, Salisbury scored two in the 1st and four in the 2nd inning to take control of the game. Connor Reeves allowed two hits and one earned run in eight innings of work to earn the victory. Connor Pingitore (Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth) singled and scored on a RBI single by Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) in the 4th inning.

Lacrosse: 1-2

The Pioneers defeated Cazenovia 8-7 in their only action of the week. The Pioneers led throughout and held off a 4th quarter rally by the Wildcats.

Teddy Alvarado (Hilton), Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT), and AJ Soto (Churchville) all finished with two goals while Joe Johnson (Churchville) and Chris Williams (Watertown/South Jefferson) scored once. Nathan Crowley (West Irondequoit) was 10 for 18 in the faceoff circle and led the team with seven ground balls. Matt Cobb (Churchville) registered his first collegiate victory in goal by making 22 saves.

Softball: 0-4

The softball team opened up the 2018 season in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. The blue and gold saw Lesley University rally for a 8-4 victory in the opener and then struggled giving up the big inning in a 14-1 loss to University of St. Joseph, a 11-0 loss to Sarah Lawrence, and a 8-0 loss to Albertus Magnus.

Morgan Franklin (Wellsville) lead the team with a .333 batting average and 2 RBI. Ashley Peterson (Valley Central) has also driven in two runs.
