Cobb and Johnson Named Garcia's Top Cut Athletes of the Week
Matt Cobb (Churchville) and Colin Johnson (Alfred Almond) have been named the Alfred State Garcia's Barbershop Top Cut Athletes of the Week.
Cobb was key in the lacrosse team's big AMCC victory over Hilbert on Saturday. Cobb didn't allow a goal for the first 42 minutes of the game as the Pioneers built a 7-0 lead over the Hawks. He finished the contest with 21 saves including 14 in the 2nd half to hold off a late Hilbert rally.
Johnson had a monster week at the plate for the Pioneers. He collected a hit in each of the five games he played this week. In the team's DH at Pitt Greensburg he was 5-for-6 with two home runs and six RBIs. For the week, Johnson went 10-for-16, collecting five extra base hits and nine RBIs along with scoring seven runs of his own as the Pioneers were 5-1, including 3-1 in conference play.
