Doviak Appointed to NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics

Alfred State Director of Athletics Jason Doviak has been appointed to the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics. Doviak will be the first representative from Alfred State to serve on a NCAA committee.

Doviak looks forward to beginning his term on the committee. "I am honored to represent Alfred State College and Division III on the Committee for Women's Athletics. Opportunities for female student-athletes continue to grow but certainly have not reached their full potential. To be part of a committee focused on enhancing opportunities and experiences for women will not only be rewarding but likely impact the lives of many individuals for years to come. I look forward to working with the other distinguished committee members as we continue to build on previous initiatives along with creating new ones that will benefit the student-athlete experience."

The mission of the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics is to provide leadership and assistance to the association in its efforts to provide equitable opportunities, fair treatment and respect for all women in all aspects of intercollegiate athletics. Toward these ends, the committee shall seek to expand and promote opportunities for female student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and officiating personnel. The committee shall promote governance, administration and conduct of intercollegiate athletics at the institutional, conference and national levels that are inclusive, fair and accessible to women.  The committee shall develop programs and resources, which can be of practical use to the association in its effort to achieve these ends.

The Committee on Women's Athletics shall consist of 18 members, including six members from Division I, six members from Division II and six members from Division III. Six positions shall be allocated for men, six allocated for women and six unallocated.

Alfred State is completing its final year of the provisional process of membership into Division III of the NCAA. It is anticipated that the Pioneers will be a full member starting in the Fall 2018 season.
