Sophomore soccer player Carissa Pompa (Rochester/Mercy) and sophomore cross country student-athlete Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Pompa netted three goals this week as the Pioneers were 2-0 and improved to 2-1-1 on the season. Pompa scored her first goal of the season in the team's 3-2 double overtime victory at Medaille. She followed that up with a pair of goals including the game-winner in the 4-1 victory over Morrisville. On the week she collected her goals on seven shots.
Lohr was the top finisher for the cross country team at the Alfred University Jericho Hill Showdown. He crossed the finish line of the 6k course in 10th place in 20:41.10. Lohr and the Pioneers finished 3rd out of five teams that competed in the event.
