Salatel and Rutledge Named Athletes of the Week
Senior soccer player Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) and sophomore cross country runner Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Salatel scored three goals this week as the Pioneers ran their unbeaten streak to four matches. She scored both goals in the team's 2-0 victory over SUNY Canton and was one of seven different scorers in a 9-0 win at Villa Maria. Salatel leads the team with seven goals and 16 points on the season.
Rutledge was the top finisher for the men's team at the Mike Woods Invitational held at Letchworth State Park. He finished the 8k course in 110th place in 28:16.5. The race featured athletes from 23 teams and 299 finishers.
