Men's Basketball: 13-10

The Pioneers ran their winning streak to four games with a pair of victories. They dominated Pitt Bradford 84-53 and then won a thrilling 74-73 contest vs. Delhi in front a large and loud crowd.

Tahaij Lewis (Rochester/Greece Olympia) led the team this week with 44 points, 25 rebounds, and four blocks while Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) scored 25 points. Dante Jordan (New York/Law & Public Service) added 18, Josh Redding (Spencerport) 17, and Owen Spencer (Perry) 16. The Pioneers shot 50.4% for the week and outrebounded their opponents 84 to 52.

In the contest vs. Delhi, Alfred State trailed by four as the game approached the final minute, Juwan Toliver (Buffalo/McKinley) found Reding in the corner and he was able to bury a three to cut the lead to one. Delhi turned the ball over on their next possession setting up the winning basket as Reding drove the lane and found Lewis for the game-winning shot. Delhi raced past half court and took their final timeout with 13.1 seconds. Following the timeout, the Broncos had three chances to win the game but Kevin Goode (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) pulled down the board in the final second to seal the victory.

Versus Delhi, Lewis finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Jordan and Gentile both finished with 12.

Women's Basketball: 5-15

Five Pioneers finished in double figures as Alfred State raced past SUNY Delhi 80-54 in their only contest of the week.

The Pioneers never trailed in the game. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led 18-9 after the 1st quarter and 42-25 at the break. The continued to push the lead in the 2nd half and led by as many as 32 early in the 4th quarter.

Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) hit four 3-pointers and led Alfred State with 20 points. Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Emily Kelley (Andover) finished with 14 points and eight boards, and Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) chipped in 11. Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) came off the bench and added 10 points. The Pioneers shot a blazing 55.6% in the 2nd quarter and 61.1% in the 3rd. They finished the game shooting 43.8% (35 for 80) from the field, hit 7 of 18 from beyond the 3-point line, and were 3 for 4 from the foul line.

Swimming & Diving: 

The swimming and diving team heads to Erie, PA this week to compete in the AMCC Championships.

Indoor Track & Field: Competed at Boston University

A contingent of track and field athletes traveled to Boston University to compete in the prestigious David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The Pioneers competed versus NCAA DI, DII, and DIII athletes.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) led the team with a 3rd place finish in the weight throw. He recorded a top toss of 17.07 m to tie for 3rd in a field that featured 40 competitors. Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post) etched his way into the Alfred State record book with a great effort in the 800. His run of 1:57.44 is now the 3rd best in school history. Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) was 17th in the high jump with a leap of 1.97 m. The distance medley relay team also competed and finished in 11:25.07.

On the women's side, the distance medley relay team of Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Veronica Dailey (Addison), Katherine Frascella (Franklinville), and Emily Brigman (Lancaster) finished in 14:48.16. Brigman also finished the 60 m hurdles in 10.25.

Wrestling: 

The wrestling team wrapped up their regular season on Sunday at the RIT Duals. The Pioneers competed vs. RIT (L 53-0), Oneonta (L 56-0), and Penn College (L 50-6).

Devin Hall picked up the lone victory of the day as he earned a forfeit victory in the match vs. Penn College.
