Perkins and Pierre-Paul Named Athletes of the Week
Junior volleyball player Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) and freshman football player Andrew Pierre-Paul (Brooklyn/Erasmus Hall) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Perkins had double-digits in kills in both of the volleyball team's victories this weekend. She had 10 kills (.333 hitting percentage) in a sweep of Penn College and then had 15 kills (.238 hitting percentage) and a team high 20 digs in a 3-2 victory over Cairn University. She finished the week with 25 kills (3.57 kills per set) and a .273 hitting percentage. She also chipped in 23 digs and three service aces.
Pierre-Paul had five tackles (three solo), two pass break-ups, and an interception in the Pioneers contest vs. Hartwick. After intercepting a pass in the 2nd quarter he raced in from 41-yards out to give the Pioneers a two-score lead.
