Zimmerman and Thomas Named Athletes of the Week
Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) and Andrew Thomas (Bronx/Erasmus Hall) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week as they helped the football team to a season ending 21-17 come from behind victory over Maritime.
Zimmerman played well in all aspects in his final game wearing the blue and gold. He led the team with 11 tackles (five solo), was 3 for 3 in PAT's, punted for three times for an average of 33.7 yards per punt, and executed a fake punt by scrambling 22 yards for a 1st down.
Thomas wrapped up his freshman season with his first 100-yard receiving game of his career. He led the team with six catches for 101 yards and a score. His 73 yard touchdown catch early in the 3rd quarter got the Pioneer offense going.
