Men's Basketball: 4-9, 2-6 AMCC

The men's basketball team fell in a pair of AMCC games this week. Both games were tight but were decided by 16-0 runs by the opposition. The Pioneers fell 75-62 vs. La Roche and 67-57 at Franciscan.

Josh Reding (Spencerport) led the team with 35 points on 52% shooting. He also added seven rebounds and four assists. Jahmel Demery (Eastridge) had 12 points and 12 rebounds this week while Brandon Gosley (Valley Stream South) finished with 11 points and 11 boards.

Women's Basketball: 4-9, 2-6 AMCC

Kesley Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) netted 44 points, passed out 11 assists, and grabbed 10 boards in three games this week for Alfred State. The Pioneers fell 72-61 to Nazareth, 83-65 to La Roche, and 73-58 at Franciscan.

Emily Kelley (Andover) shot 57.6% from the floor this week and finished with 41 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) averaged 11 points and 7.7 rebounds this week while Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) scored 30 points and passed out 10 assists.

Men's Swimming & Diving:

Austin Miller (Hornell) and Ryan Jobe (Gananda) competed at the two day University of Buffalo Diving Invitational.

Miller finished 5th in the 1m competition on Friday with 160.80 points in the final round after scoring 170.10 in the preliminary action. Jobe finished 6th with a score of 117.80 in the finals after accumulating 120.80 points in the prelims. On Saturday, Miller was 6th in the 3m competition with 147.20 points in the final round after scoring 176.10 in the prelims. Jobe finished 7th with a score of 119.70 after scoring 119.90 in the prelims. Miller and Jobe were the lone NCAA DIII divers competing.

Women's Swimming & Diving:  

The women's swimming team put together strong performances as they defeated Franciscan 114-64 in a AMCC dual meet on Saturday.

Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) won two individual events and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team to lead the way. She won the 100 breast in 1:15.78 and the 100 free in 59.47. She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team (2:06.50) with Payton Armstrong (Monroe-Woodbury), Sarah Stevens (Wellsville), and Alina Kisluk (Hamburg). Kisluk won the 200 free in 2:13.79, Sarah Stevens won the 50 free in 28.20, and the 200 free relay team of Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville), Veronica Boller (Wales/Iroquois), Hannah Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer), and Leaha Langerman (Wayland Cohocton) won in 2:04.62.

2nd place finishes were earned by Sarah Stevens in the 200 free (2:17.94), Armstrong in the 100 back (1:12.25), Kisluk in the 100 free (1:03.07) and the 500 free (6:09.29), Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville) the 100 fly (1:16.66), and Mikaela Snayczuk in the 200 IM (2:35.59).

Track & Field:

The blue & gold are back in action in a few weeks when they travel to the RIT Invitational on January 18th. 

Wrestling: 3-4

The wrestling team opened up the 2020 portion of their schedule with a pair of matches at the Brockport Duals. They competed vs. Pitt Bradford and the hosts.

Zack Kowalewski (Attica), Anthony Miraglia (Byron Bergen), Cale Bartosch (Palmyra Macedon), and Benjamin Star (Worcester) got forfeit wins vs. Pitt Bradford. The match came down to a tie-breaker in which the Panthers had the advantage.

Miraglia battled in the tightest match of the dual contest vs. the #22 ranked Golden Eagles. Miraglia lost a tight 2-1 decision in the 149 lb. match.

The heavyweight duo of Nicholas Barrett (Avoca) and Kyle Fitzgerald (South Lewis) picked up exhibition pins. Barrett pinned Shaquan Bago in 2:18 and Fitzgerald pinned Matthew Ristau in 4:13. Fitzgerald also earned a 7-2 win over Anthony Oca.
