Alfred State Partners with Wicked Psyched

The Alfred State athletic department is pleased to announce a partnership with Lauren DiCredico and her company Wicked Psyched to provide Mental Health workshop for Pioneer student-athletes.

DiCredico was a two-sport collegiate athlete at Salem State University (softball & field hockey) where she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She was a pitcher and outfielder at Salem and a midfielder for field hockey. She received many awards in her time at Salem including, 2011- Salem State University Rookie athlete of the year, 2011 MASCAC Rookie of the year, & 2014 John D. Galaris Student-Athlete Award.

After Salem, she went on to study Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver. From there she took her knowledge to work with the United States Army applying performance psychology to their day to day work, combat, and lives. After 5 years in Colorado, she has taken her expertise back to the homeland of Massachusetts.

Her company Wicked Psyched is a Professional Mental Skills consulting company designed to help athletes reach their most optimal mindset to excel in sport & life.

DiCredico shared the mission of her company and goals of her sessions. "Wicked Psyched's mission is to spread awareness of the mental health challenges student-athletes face, and let them know they're not alone. We hope to provide information for student- athletes who may be struggling with their own mental health, but need to remain a high performing student, athlete, and leader. Wicked Psyched wishes to change the negative stigma associated with getting mental health help. Just like we work on our weaknesses in sport, we ought to do the same for our brain."

Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Jen Enke is excited to have Lauren's message reach our student-athletes. "After Dan (Roberts) & I talked to each of teams during our 'Fall 2020 Listening Tour' it is clear that our student-athletes want to learn ways to support their mental health and connect with people that understand what it's like to be in their shoes."

Pioneer student-athletes will work with DiCredico for the first time next week (October 28-29).
