Baseball: 9-11, 4-0 AMCC

The baseball team split six games this past week. They split a doubleheader at Rochester (W 8-5, L 5-4), got swept at Oswego (L 6-3, L 8-0) and swept an AMCC doubleheader vs. Pitt Bradford (W 4-1, W 13-8).

Brody Burdett (Scottsdale, AZ) led the team with a .350 batting average (7 for 20) this week. He was 5-6 in the doubleheader sweep of Bradford with 3 RBI. Josh Laurie (LeRoy) was 6 for 18 with three doubles this week, Sam Dickerson (Cuthogue/Mattituck) returned from injury and was 3 for 10 with 2 RBI. Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) was tied for the team lead with 5 RBI this week. As a team the Pioneers hit .251 with 15 extra base hits.

AJ Gartland (Irondequoit) appeared in two games and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He allowed four hits and six walks in 7.2 innings of work while striking out eight. Connor Hong (Gates Chili) appeared in four games and earned a save while Nick Serce (Irondequoit) and Chris Catoire (Brooklyn/Fort Hamilton) each earned wins.  

Men's Soccer:

The men's soccer team opens up their Spring 2021 exhibition season this week with a pair of trips to Buffalo. They take on Hilbert on Thursday and Medaille on Saturday.

Softball: 2-10, 0-4 AMCC

The Pioneers fell in a pair of doubleheaders this past week. They lost 11-6 and 10-8 at SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday and 3-1 and 9-1 at Pitt Bradford on Saturday.

Kailey Wonica (Staten Island/Moore Catholic) was 5 for 12 with four runs scored this week to lead the Pioneers. She is now hitting .488 (20 for 41) on the season. Krista Lovell (Addison) had a big week as she was 4 for 10 with 8 RBI. She connected on her first homer of the season, a grand slam in game one vs. Cobleskill. Jade Parsons (Ovid/South Seneca) accounted for the lone run in game two vs. Pitt Bradford when she hit a solo homer.

Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN) didn't allow an earned run in game one of the doubleheader vs. Bradford but was the tough luck loser. She pitched 12 innings this week and struck out 14 batters.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field:

The men's track & field team had several impressive performances as they opened up the outdoor season at ASC Early Season Invitational. The Pioneers competed with Alfred University, Buffalo State, Houghton, Mansfield, Penn State Behrend, and Roberts Wesleyan in the event held at Pioneer Stadium.

Nathan Chambers (East Rochester) registered an individual title to lead the Pioneers. He won the hammer throw with a toss of 48.03 m. Dylan Perlino (Holland) was right behind him with a toss of 47.88 m. Perlino was also 3rd in the discus (37.97) and 4th in the shot put (11.17 m). Chambers was 5th in the discus (36.70 m) while Joseph Hammer (Alden) was 6th in the shot put (10.45 m.)

Jesse Johnson (Horseheads) was 2nd in the 110 hurdles (18.45) while Derek Walter (Lancaster) was 4th (22.07). Johnson was also tied for 2nd in the high jump (1.80 m) while Walter was 3rd in the 400 hurdles (1:01.80). In the javelin, Walter was 5th (32.01) and Johnson was 6th (27.52). Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East) was 3rd in the long jump (6.56 m), Cameron Chambers (East Rochester) was 3rd in the 800 m (1:58.13), Esaias Brumfield (West Genesee) was 4th in the 100 m (11.82) and 6th in the 200 m (23.77), and Shawn Rosa (Middletown) was 5th in the 400 m (52.84) and 7th in the 200 m (23.82).

The 4x100 relay team of Cameron Howard (Brockport), Rosa, Rudewicz-Nepokroeff, and Brumfield finished in 3rd (44.79) and the 4x400 relay team of Walter, Davyn Gulbrandsen (Rotterdam/Mohonasen), Cooper Buckley (Wellsville), and Edward Scoxton (Lakewood/Southwestern) finished 3rd as well (3:37.01).

Women's Outdoor Track & Field

The women's outdoor track and field team won three individual events as they opened up the outdoor portion of the season at ASC Early Season Invitational. The non-scoring event featured athletes from Alfred University, Buffalo State, Houghton, Mansfield, Penn State Behrend, and Roberts Wesleyan.

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) broke the school record in winning the high jump with a leap of 1.60 m. The previous record was 1.57 m by Vanessa Zoll in 1981. She also won the 100 hurdles in 15.61 and was also 2nd in the long jump (4.94 m).

Chivonna Reed (Fairport) also won an individual title by winning the long jump with a mark of 5.13 m. Alyssa Delany (Hornell) was 3rd in the 100 hurdles (16.95) and 4th in the long jump (4.88 m) while My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) was 3rd in the 200 m (28.33) and 4th in the 400 m (1:04.54). Sarah Rivet (Shenendehowa) was 3rd in the 400 hurdles (1:14.39), Laura Walter (Lancaster) was 3rd in the triple jump (9.34 m), Lily Schnell (Olean) was 4th (9.30 m) in the triple jump, Marina Miketish (Olean) was 4th in the 100 hurdles (17.21), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) was 4th in the 400 hurdles (1:14.72), and Madeline Cole (Homer) was 5th in the 100 (14.31) and 6th in the long jump (4.68 m).

The 4x100 relay team of Delany, Miketish, Walter, and Davis was 2nd in the 52.91 while the 4x400 relay team of Rivet, O'Buckley, Isabelle Popoff (Cicero North Syracuse), and Davis were 2nd in 4:35.56.
