Baseball: 12-17, 6-4 AMCC

The baseball team had a light week as they played just four games. The offense struggled and fell 1-0 (8 innings) and 5-1 to Penn State Behrend and 3-1 and 6-3 at Fredonia.

AJ Gartland (Irondequoit) pitched outstanding in game one vs. Behrend. Gartland allowed just four hits and the one earned run in 7.1 innings of work. He didn't walk a batter and struck out eight.

Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) led the offense with a 5 for 10 week. He drove in a pair and hit his team leading 5th homer.

Men's Soccer:

The Pioneers took the field three times in their final week of the spring season. They fell 5-0 at Penn State Behrend, won 3-0 at Hilbert, and lost 4-2 in their only home game of the spring vs. Mt. Aloysius. 

Softball: 3-19, 1-13 AMCC

The Pioneers were 1-5 this past week in AMCC play. They fell 9-1 and 14-1 at home vs. Penn State Behrend, split with LaRoche (L 3-2 and W 13-10), and fell 8-6 and 10-2.

Kailey Wonica (Staten Island/Moore Catholic) had a monster week at the plate en route to being named the AMCC Player of the Week. She collected hits in all six hits and had at least two hits in five of those games. She finished the week 14 for 21 (.667 batting average). She collected five doubles, a homer, and drove in six runs. She had a slugging percentage of 1.048%.

Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN) hit .400 (8 for 20) with 4 RBI at the plate and earned the victory on the mound in the win over LaRoche. She finished the week with 14 strikeouts in 23 innings of work.

Men's Swimming:

The men's swimming team won six events as they wrapped up the 2021 COVID season with a home meet vs. Penn State Altoona. 

Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) won the 50 free (22.66), was 2nd in the 100 back (53.26) and 2nd in the 100 free (48.37). Stuart Yates (Naples) won the 100 breast (59.67), was 2nd in the 50 free (22.95), and was 3rd in the 100 free (50.98). Patrick Roberts (East Aurora) won the 200 fly (2:07.01), was 2nd in the 100 fly (56.47) and 3rd in the 50 free (23.62), Will Ariri (Riverside, CA) won the 200 back (2:19.66) and was 3rd in the 100 back (1:03.84), Jack Friedah (York, PA) won the 100 fly (55.51), and Riley Hoyt (Tulsa, OK) won the 500 free (5:02.30).

Women's Swimming: 

The women's swimming team wrapped up their COVID 2021 season up with a non-scoring meet vs. Penn State Altoona on Thursday.

Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) was 2nd in the 100 butterfly (1:04.49) and 2nd in the 100 free (58.89) while Lily Holmes (Liverpool) was 3rd in the 50 free (34.86) and was 4th in the 100 free (1:18.58).

Men's Outdoor Track & Field:

The men's track & field team continued their season by heading to the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Friday. 

The 4x100 relay team of Cameron Howard (Brockport), Shawn Rosa (Middletown), Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East), and Esaias Brumfield (West Genesee) had the top place of the day. The team finished in 44.32 to earn 2nd place.

Jesse Johnson (Horseheads) was 3rd in the high jump (1.83 m), Howard was 4th in the 100 m (11.52), Cameron Chambers (East Rochester) was 5th in the 800 m (1:56.67), and Derek Walter (Lancaster) was 5th in the 400 hurdles (59.66) and 8th in the javelin (33.01 m). In the hammer throw, Nathan Chambers (East Rochester) was 6th in the hammer throw (44.08 m) and Dylan Perlino (Holland) was 8th (41.79 m). 

Women's Outdoor Track & Field

The women's track & field team continued their outdoor season on Saturday at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic. The Pioneers recorded seven top-8 finishes.

The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams both finished 3rd. The 4x100 relay team of Alyssa Delany (Hornell), Marina Miketish (Olean), Laura Walter (Lancaster), and My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) finished in 52.42 while the 4x400 relay team of Madeline Cole (Homer), Sarah Rivet (Shenendehowa), Laura Ferris (Victor/Mercy), and Miketish finished in 4:33.80.

Cole registered the top individual performance with a 5th place finish in the 100 m dash (13.64). Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) and Chivonna Reed (Fairport) tied for 6th in the high jump. Both cleared a height of 1.48 m. Rivet was 7th in the 400 hurdles (1:12.68) and Delany was 7th in the triple jump (10.38 m.).
