Snayczuk and Galton Named Athletes of the Week
Madison Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) and Mike Galton (Warsaw) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Snayczuk won the 200 free (2:07.21), the 50 free (25.66), and the 100 free (56.91) as the Pioneers swimming & diving team improved to 4-1 on the season with victories over Wells and Franciscan.
Galton returned to the mat and went 4-1 on the week in the 174 lb. weight class. He earned a 19-3 victory in the team's opening night victory over Elmira and then finished 2nd at the Adrian Inviational. At Adrian, he started the day with a 5-1 win over Devin Miller (Heidelberg), earned a 12-6 win over Eero Gross (Wabash) in the quarterfinals, and won 6-2 over Derrick Top (Adrian) to advance to the finals. In the finals, he lost a tight 7-5 decision.
