Pioneer Athletes Of The Week
Alfred, NY- The Pioneers Athletes of the Week are Track and Field Izzy Popoff and Baseball's Jon White.
Izzy Popoff was named female Track Athlete of the Meet after she won the one mile run with a time of 5:35.63. With that time, she moved into third all time. Then she notched a third-place finish in the 800-meter run, after crossing the line in 2:36.45. She was also a part of the team that won the distance medley with a time of 14:13.05. That team moved into seventh all time with that time.
Jon White picked up two wins last week after pitching 13.0 innings for a 2.77 ERA. In the first win against Ferrum, he pitched 6.0 innings only allowing two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Then against New Paltz he pitched a complete 7.0 inning game allowing two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
