ALTHOL SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team captured the first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Showcase title this afternoon after they defeated Alfred State College 13-3 in the championship game.

Marc O'Neill led all scorers with three goals while seven different Hilbert players collected multiple points in the contest played at St. Francis High School.

Austin Laine and Edward Mathias each netted twice in the 6-0 Hilbert run at the start of the game.

Alfred State scored back-to-back goals as the first half came to a close and then they added their final goal less than sixty-seconds in to the third quarter.

The Hawks finished the game with another 6-0 run for the 13-3 win.

Hilbert held advantages in shots, shots on goal, ground balls, clears and turnovers.  Both teams went 2-10 on man-up opportunities but Nathaniel Hyman lifted Hilbert in the third quarter (9-3) with a man-down goal.

Adam Zawadzki was credited with 11 saves earning his ninth victory this season.

Austin Laine tallied twice and added an assist and Codie Thomas scored one but assisted on a pair of goals.   Austin Good led the defensive unit with four caused turnovers.

Congratulations goes out to the 2017 Hawks for earning the regular season AMCC championship  at 4-0 and then completing the season with a Showcase Title.
