Softball Drops Two Games on Final Day of Florida Trip

Naples, FL – The Elms College softball team dropped the final two games in Florida on Wednesday afternoon. The Blazers lost game one to Alfred State (11-1), and game two to Rockford (12-3). Elms heads home after going (0-8) on the spring trip.

 

Game One – Elms 1, Alfred St. 11

The scored in all five of their at bats. They scored three in the 1st, five in the 2nd, two in the 3rd, and a single run in the 4th. The Blazers got their lone run of the game in the top of the 5th with two outs on a sacrifice fly from Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, MA) that's scored Karlie Petlock (West Springfield, MA).

 

Game Two – Elms 3, Rockford 12

The Regents jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the bottom of the first inning. The Blazers came right back, scoring three runs in the top of the third inning, closing the gap to 5-3. The big hits in the frame came from Katelyn Silvia (Southwick, MA) and Kayla Beaulieu (Bristol, CT).

However, Rockford scored one run in the bottom of the third inning on a wild pitch and six more unanswered runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away from Elms, and take the (12-3) win.

The Blazers return home after going (0-8) on the trip. Elms will face St, Joseph (CT) on Saturday 3/21 for a doubleheader at 3pm and 5pm.
