ALFRED, N.Y. - The rain arrived, but Hilbert College & Alfred State College played deep enough into Game 1 for the non-conference softball contest to count.

The Hawks earned their first shut-out win of the season, downing the Pioneers 6-0 in six innings.

GAME ONE

Hilbert combined for 14 hits with six RBI on all six runs. 

Rachel Allen earned her first win, went  5.0 innings, gave up one hit, one walk and struck out five. Marisa McIntyre took the circle in the top of the 6th and faced two batters before the game was called.

The Hawks scored one run in the 1st and in the 3rd before they manufactured four runs in the top of the 5th.

Maia Delaney and Alyssa Barnas (2RBI) went 2 for 3 while Morgan McNeill, Victoria Grayson and Gabriella Bongiorno each tacked on two hits.

McNeill, Grayson, Bongiorno and Morgan Grosch reached for doubles with Grosch earning her RBI of that extra base hit.

GAME TWO

The nightcap was canceled due to a steady rain fall.

Hilbert (8-10, 3-5) returns to Hamburg tonight so that they can host Franciscan University at 1pm Saturday.  Both the Hawks and Barons are excited to be participating in the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game.  Wear your yellow to the game and consider making a financial donation during the AMCC doubleheader.
