Mack Named AMCC Pitcher of the Year - Four Named All-AMCC

All-AMCC Baseball honorees

Alfred State senior pitcher Garrett Mack (Avon) has been named the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. Mack is joined by Danny Doran (Irondequoit), Josh Laurie (LeRoy) on the All-AMCC 1st team while Colin Johnson (Alfred Almond) was a 2nd team selection.

Mack had a stellar season on the mound. He was 5-1 overall with a 2.72 ERA in 59.2 innings of work. He allowed just 45 hits while striking out 53. He held opposing hitters to just a .200 batting average. In AMCC play, Mack was 4-0 with a 1.55 ERA. During a stretch of six appearances this season (37.2 innings of work), he didn't allow an earned run. During that stretch he won threw three straight complete game victories in AMCC action and allowed just 13 hits, two unearned runs, and struck out 34. Mack finishes his career with a 12-6 record in 33 appearances. 

Doran was selected as the 1st team DH as he finished his senior campaign hitting .336 (50 for 149). He collected 10 doubles, seven homer, and drove in 30 runs. His seven homers led the team while his 10 doubles and 30 RBI were 2nd. He finished the year with a .544 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage (hit by 16 pitches). In conference play, Doran hit .400 with all ten of his doubles, four homers, and 16 RBI. He finishes his career as a .283 hitter (80 for 283) with 11 homers and 51 RBI.

Laurie was the 1st team selection as a utility player. Laurie spent time at second, shortstop, and third this season. He hit .316 (42 for 133) on the season with five double, three triples, and four homers. He drove in 25 runs and scored 32 times. In AMCC action, Laurie hit .396 with two doubles, two triples, four homers, and 15 RBI. During his first two seasons, Laurie has collected 74 hits, hit five homers, and driven in 36 runs.

Johnson who appeared in 37 games mostly behind the plate this year was a 2nd team selection. He finished the season with a team best .398 batting average (49 for 123). He collected nine doubles, five triples, four homers, and a team high 39 RBI. Versus conference opponents, Johnson hit .450 (27 for 60) with six doubles, three triples, two homers, and 20 RBI. During his three years wearing the blue & gold, he is hitting .318 (84 for 264) with 24 doubles, five triples, eight homers, and 67 RBI.

The Pioneers finished the season with a 20-21 overall record. The 20 wins was the most by a team in the six years that Alfred State has been part of the NCAA. The team also qualified for their first AMCC Tournament as the #5 seed.
