Pioneers Lose in Extras

Alfred State fell to RIT in a tough 13-12 loss in extra innings.

The Pioneers started off with a two run home run from Tim Holler in the top of the first. RIT would respond with 4 of their own. In the top of the third inning, Holler hit another two-run homer to tie the game. Nick Serce and Jack Curabba both drew walks in the same inning, which led to an RBI double by Elijah Barinas. A fielders choice groundout by Tyler Petery scored Curabba from third, giving the Pioneers a 6-4 lead after 3 innings. The game remained back and forth throughout. Nick Serce hit 2 homeruns in the game, adding a boost in the Pioneer offense. In the eighth inning RIT tied the game again and would eventually win on a walk-off basehit in the 10th inning.

Alfred State continues conference play this Saturday against Pitt-Greensburg at 1 p.m, the Pioneers are set to play two games.
