Pioneers Sweep La Roche; Serce Breaks AMCC Homerun Record

The Alfred State Pioneers won both of their two games in their double header today with the scores of 7-3 and 15-7 against La Roche. The Pioneers are 12-2 in conference play , with an overall record of 24-14. The Pioneers finish their regular season championship run, and will begin to prepare to jost the AMCC postseason tournament 

Game 1 

The Pioneers started hot with scoring three runs in the first. Tim Holler helped the Pioneers score their first two runs with a single, scoring Sam Dickerson and Bryson Rigsby. The Pioneers did not score again until the 5th inning with a record-breaking homerun from Nick Serce. That was Serce's 17th homerun of the season, a new single-season AMCC record. Elijah Barinas also drove in a run later in the game. The final run for the Pioneers was a double to left field by Bryson Rigsby, driving in Devin Mersmann

Ryan bailey started the game and tallied 6 total strikeouts. Caden Fortunato came in the last inning and shut the door in game 1. 

Game 2 

The Pioneers started scoring early and often in this game. Hits came through the whole lineup, some standouts include:

Nick Serce: Amassed 5 hits in the game and tallied 3 RBI's

Sam Dickerson: Got 3 basehits and also notched 3 RBI's

Elijah Barinas: Made outstanding defensive plays and got 3 basehits. Barinas also drove in 3 runs.

The Pioneers amassed 14 hits and 5 extra-basehits.

The Pioneers are back in action in Oswego Tuesday May 2nd at 3:00pm.
