Serce Named All-American; Fortunato Named to D3Baseball All-Region Team

D3Baseball.com released the 2023 All-Region teams. Two Pioneers saw their names land on the list. Nick Serce was named to the second team and Caden Fortunato was named to the third team. Serce was also named a D3Baseballcom All-American, landing himself on the 5th team as a 1st baseman. Serce is the 3rd All-American in Alfred State Athletics history, and the first All-American in the baseball program's NCAA history. 

The 2023 season marks the eleventh year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with more than 1,000 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to D3baseball.com staff and contributors from which three teams in each region were determined.

Nick Serce Serce hit .408 this season with a slugging percentage of .904 and finished the regular season third in the nation for homeruns with 17. He broke the conference and Alfred State record for single-season homeruns, and is also the all-time leader at Alfred State in homeruns. Serce tallied 11 doubles and 43 RBI during the regular season, recording 51 hits, with over half of them being for extra bases. He fielded 1.000 at 1B in conference play this season.

Caden Fortunato quickly established himself as the go-to reliever for the Pioneers. All of Fortunato's innings came in close games and were in crucial situations. Caden amassed 24 innings and tallied 16 k's. He did not allow an earned run in AMCC regular season play and had a regular season ERA of under 2 at 1.88. He only allowed 5 er and 20 hits.
