Western Equestrian Opens up Season with 3rd Place Finish

The Alfred State Western Equestrian team made its intercollegiate debut at the Collegiate Invitational held at the Empire State Quarter Horse Association's Fall show in Syracuse, NY. 

Six teams competed and Alfred State riders Rachel McNeal (Elmira/Waverly) earned a 3rd place in Open Reining, Kirstin Reynolds (Portville) a 3rd in Intermediate Horsemanship and Katelyn Lawson (Savannah/Clyde Savannah) completed the day with the win in Beginner Horsemanship. 

Alfred State finished 3rd in the overall team standings, ahead of SUNY Oswego, Syracuse University and Rochester Institute of Technology.  The Grand Champion prize went to SUNY Morrisville and Alfred University was Reserve Champion. 

The team is back in action on October 14th when they compete at Alfred University at the Bromely-Daggett Equestrian Center.
