Four Qualify for Equestrian Regionals

Four members of the Alfred State Western Equestrian team qualified for Regionals with strong performances at the December show held at Alfred University. As a team the Pioneers finished as the Reserve Hi-Point in both the AM and PM shows.

Mackenzie Caletka (Apalachin/Vestal), Meaghan Castoro (Syosset), Kathleen Crandon (Webster Thomas), and Sarrah Matla (LeRoy) all scored enough points to qualify for regionals. Caletka was 3rd in Intermediate 2 in the AM show and 5th in Novice in the PM show, Castoro was 3rd in Intermediate 2 in the AM show and 6th in Novice in the PM show, Crandon won the Intermediate 2 competition in the PM show after finishing 5th in the AM show, and Matla was 2nd in the morning and 1st in the afternoon.

Alyssa Beardsley (Letchworth) was 2nd in both shows in Open Reining and 4th in Open Horsemanship. For her strong performance, Beardsley earned Reserve Hi-Point rider honors during the AM show.

Megan Delianne (Lindenhurst/West Islip) was 1st in the morning and 2nd in the afternoon in Beginner Horsemanship, Jamie Fredenburg (Fabius Pompey) was 2nd in Novice in the morning, Michael Henry (Youngsville) was 2nd in Beginner in the AM, Brianna Lasecki (Newark) was 2nd in both shows in Intermediate 1, and Rachel von Hagn (Bath) was 3rd in both shows in the Open competition.

The Pioneers return to action on February 2nd at Alfred University in their final show before the IHSA Zone 2 Region 1 Championships.
