Lauretti Named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week

Alfred State junior defensive end John Lauretti (Seaford) has been named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a solid effort in the Pioneers contest at the University of Rochester on Saturday. Lauretti is the first Pioneer to earn weekly honors from the ECFC.

Lauretti was a key reason the Pioneers defense held the Yellowjackets to just 14 points this past weekend. He recorded 11 solo tackles and 13 total tackles (9 tackles came in the 1st half). Two of his tackles were for a loss of 20 yards including a 18-yard sack early on in the contest. He also forced a fumble late in the game.

On the year, Lauretti is 5th in the ECFC with 23 tackles and tied for 6th with 1.5 sacks.

Maritime (N.Y.) teammates Brandonn Drumgole (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Matthew Murphy (Seaford, N.Y.) were named Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively and Mount Ida's De'Andre Goldson-Fisher earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Lauretti and the rest of the Pioneers have this week off before kicking off ECFC play on September 30th at SUNY Maritime.
