Brandon Davis (Lansing), Owen Davis (Lansing), and Learoy Smith (Yonkers/Yonkers Montessori Academy) are three of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools that have qualified for membership into the 2019 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society sponsored by the the NFF & College Hall of Fame.
Alfred State senior defensive end John Lauretti (Seaford) shined as he earned Defensive MVP honors at FAF D1-FCS Senior Scout Bowl last Saturday afternoon. Lauretti played on the North squad that consisted of NCAA FCS, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III athletes.
Six members of the Alfred State football team have been selected to All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference team. Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney), John Lauretti (Seaford), and Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) were 1st team selections, Ronnie Clark (Philadelphia/Indian River) and Jevon Jeremy (New Orleans, LA / Dunbar) were 2nd team honorees, and Devon Clark (Perrysburg/Gowanda) was named honorable mention.
Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) caught seven passes for 103 yards and became the first 1,000 yard receiver in Alfred State history as the Pioneers closed out the 2018 season with a 21-3 loss at Castleton.
The Alfred State football team dropped a 55-14 contest to SUNY Maritime in front of a jubilant homecoming crowd. In the contest, Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) recorded his 4th 100-yard receiving game in the contest.
Hartwick used a balanced attack as they defeated Alfred State 49-24 on Saturday evening. Hartwick accumulated 522 total yards (321 passing and 201 rushing) in the contest. The Pioneers offense racked up 423 yards in the contest.
