Eighteen Pioneers Named to ECFC Conference Teams

The Alfred State Football team earned 18 spots on the ECFC All-Conference teams. Five Pioneers were named to the All-Conference Offense team and six players were named to the defense team. Seven players were named honorable mentions. Alfred State finished tied for third in the conference going 3-3 and 5-5 overall.

OFFENSE:

Jake Palmer was the lone Pioneer on the All-Conference Offensive First Team. The Alfred State Halfback was a force all season. The ECFC's leading rusher averaged 107.2 rushing yards per game. He was the best at finding the endzone in the conference as well, as he reached paydirt 15 times. A running back is nothing without his blocking.

Fullback Noah Silfer, and offensive linemen Sean Carey and Eagan Enke were all named to the All-Conference Offense Second Team. Putting consistent blocks together all season, Enke and Carey were the leaders of the offensive line and the Pioneers rushing attack. Enke and Carey also contributed in the success of freshman quarterback Justin Horvath who took on the starting role after Jimmy Brush suffered a season ending injury.

Roman Napoleon was also named to the ECFC All-Conference Second Team for his play at wideout. He was the team's leading receiver and broke the record for career receiving yards at Alfred State. He averaged 95.8 receiving yards per game, good enough for second in the conference. Napoleon also snagged 6 receiving touchdowns, tying him for third in the ECFC.

DEFENSE:

Silas Egenlauf, Rylie Van Fleet and Max Gomes were all named to the ECFC All-Conference First Team Defense team. Linebacker Silas Egenlauf was the leader at linebacker for Alfred State. His 8.9 tackles per game was good enough for second in the conference. He notched 21 solo tackles and had six tackles for a loss. Rylie Van Fleet was the defensive captain for the Pioneers. He tallied 24 solo tackles in conference play and had 3 interceptions in ECFC games, tying him for first place. Van Fleet was also named to the ECFC Second Team as a punter. Max Gomes landed himself on the All-Conference first team as a first-year student-athlete at Alfred State. The defensive back was locked down the opposing wide receivers all season. With three conference and six total interceptions, he was on top of the ECFC with Van Fleet. Gomes also tallied six pass break-ups in the regular season.

Rayshawn Powell and Josh Borowicz were both named to the ECFC All-Conference Defense Second Team as defensive lineman. Powell was a force on the interior all season, stuffing running lanes and made his presence on the line of scrimmage. Powell totaled 30 tackles, and 2.5 tackles for a loss. Borowicz was a force on the edge, pressuring opposing quarterbacks and making his presence felt in the backfield. He tallied 53 total tackles and had 8.5 tackles for a loss on the season.
